American University’s Institute for IDEAS is an international research center dedicated to developing, applying, and understanding immersive technologies.
In pursuit of their mission to explore and expand the innovative possibilities of mixed-reality experiences, they are focused on advancing a new storytelling medium through volumetric content.
At the core of this initiative is the YOOM Capture System, which students use to develop immersive volumetric content for VR, AR, and other applications. Annual courses are equally technical and creative, and the studio is fully operated by students throughout the year.
Students work together to complete research and create volumetric based immersive projects which are showcased annually at University Conferences.
